Enrollment Management

Brennan Randolph, Vice President for Enrollment Manage and Institutional Technology, oversees Athletics, Financial Aid, student populations, and scholarships from athletics. Currently, 50% of our student population are student athletes. Our enrollment numbers are rising, especially with the addition of sprint football and men’s volleyball. It is important for Professional Advisors to know that the handoff from Admissions to Professional Advisors is very important. Students want and need a smooth transition. It is not uncommon for students to reach back out to their Admissions Counselor since that is who helped them start their journey at SMWC. Therefore, there needs to be strong partnership between Professional Advising and Admissions Counselors, and even coaching staff. Coaches have a strong influence on the student athletes, so it is vital to keep everyone informed. There is a lot of work in the SIS as far as degree pathways. We are not sure students are using degree pathways, as it is robust. Students want to know where they stand. It is good to ensure that students know their progress to degree completion during advising appointments. This is also a good reporting tools for advising. Students should be able to generate a report about where they are in the degree completion process in Woods Net. Student retention is an important factor, and we will work continuously to improve student retention. Having a good relationship with our advisees is a part of retention. They want to feel welcomed, like they matter, and that we care about them and their goals. Professional Advisors should be reasonably available to work with students on a regular basis and work with their schedules to give the best experience possible. We are students first. Enrollment Management’s goal is to g row campus population and retain students at a high level. There are many routes to take to student retention, and Campus Life is a large part of the process, as well. Outside of their academic life, their residential life and involvement in campus activities helps keep them engaged and motivated.
