Paintings of Time

to see the giants of the past our mere works seem all for naught did they wonder too, what life they’d live after their hearts end their song? did they wonder too – whose minds they’d touch, with the colors of their souls unveiled in melodies? what would we say to these giants, who’ve walked every path we see before us? what more could we give, to live up to this story? what life will we live, after all is dust? what paintings of time will stand and meet the ears of those not yet seeking? would we desire the stars while on earth, or would they be much sweeter after our last breath? there’s a sense of peace in the thought that perhaps these works do not need to be known, to have their meaning. there’s a sense of peace in the thought that the minutes we have colored will keep their place, in the archives of stars. Our works, though they be but little, live indefinitely.
