(She changes subject quick before Owen notices. She points to a teal velvet couch. She has no idea how much it costs, she just knows it will help her create another distraction.) Owen: It’s interesting. Definitely unique but I think it would look nice in our new apartment.

Maya: It still feels weird hearing you say “our apartment.” Owen: I like saying it, makes everything feel more real.

Maya: Yeah, it does make it feel more real.

(Owen sits down on the couch. Still neither of them has looked at the price. Maya looks around a little. She seems to be fidgeting. Owen is moving around on the couch, testing it out. Maya still hasn’t sat on it.)

Owen: It’s super comfortable. I really like it.

Maya: The color really caught my eye. It will look nice with that white rug I have. We can put it in the living room. Owen: Yeah that’d be cool. Why don’t you sit down on it so you can test it out?

Maya: I’m sure it’s fine. I like the look of it; that’s all that matters.

Owen: It’s really comfortable…

Maya: I’m sure it is. It’ll look nice in the living room.

(Maya is still fidgeting.)
