1 As the world shut down during the pandemic a year ago, the Alumni Office took the opportunity to evaluate how to better engage with its alumni constituents by class year, geographic location and the modalities of distance, online, graduate and traditional campus programs. For many years, the office measured alum engagement by calculating the percentage of alums giving annually to the College. Today, the team is looking to broaden this meaning, beyond asking for support of the Woods Fund — which is still of great significance — and taking into account other factors which might contribute to engagement such as volunteer service, event attendance and pride in the institution. So, how does one become an engaged alum? Here are eight suggestions: Attend Reunion, Homecoming and other events including virtual gatherings 8 WAYS TO BE AN ENGAGED ALUM 2 Refer a future Pomeroy by sharing your story and encouraging them to visit campus 3 Like, post and share on social media Celebrating Service — wear your SMWC gear while you give back in your community 5 Buy a Woods license plate — Indiana residents can show their pride on their ride 6 Update your information with the Alumni Office Promote your business as alumni-owned or connect with the SMWC Career Office Visit and take a golf cart tour to see recent updates to campus 4 Volunteer as part of 7 8 Today, more than ever, the College — in partnership with the Alumni Association — is eager to find new and meaningful ways to connect.
