SPRING-OA 2022
Sue Ellen Stoltz Keller ’75, Susan “Susie” Massey Jarman ’75 and I took a day trip to The Woods. We had lunch in the new dining hall and Sue Ellen played the piano in the church. Looking forward to our 50th and hoping to see many more dear friends!” Holly Hilton D’Amour “Greetings from Asheville, N.C.! Life is splendid in the mountains of North Carolina. Rich retired in April, and we moved into our new home on the French Broad River in July. It’s like living in a National Park! If you are headed this way, please come visit us. We’ve already canceled trips to Greece and Norway due to the pandemic. COVID willing, we are hoping the third time is the charm to visit family in France.” Mary Reagan Bishop “As usual I am getting my assignment done right under the wire! Let me start off by saying how much I enjoy our Woods Facebook pages. I RETIRED as of January 2, 2022! John is not retired yet so I am taking advantage of my days without too much interruption. I am enjoying all this “me” time so much! We’ve done a lot of traveling. For now, February, we are ready for a warm vacation to the Dominican Republic!” Jane Stewart Wilcox “And the years rush on . . . I love my life in The Villages, Fla., and being a part of this unique place. It will soon be the anniversary of Ward’s passing. Hard to believe it will be four years. I do have a boyfriend who is a neighbor and whose wife died right before Ward. The best way to describe our relationship is “laughter.” I hope all are well. I always enjoy all the pictures posted on Facebook.” Donna Witte Murphy “As I write this, my Cincinnati Bengals are headed to the Super Bowl! I hope I am still celebrating by the time this reaches print. (Readers, feel free to comment.) I attended their first Super Bowl in 1982. Tickets were an outrageous $40. Dan and I are still living the good life in Ohio. We are looking forward to our first Alaska cruise in June. We are holding steady at seven grandchildren. They are our sunshine!” Lynn O’Linski “Greeting from snowy Chi-town! What we all need to do at our age... go back to the classroom. (Donna, don’t tell Cister Sordelia, shhh) I received my certification as a Certified Dementia Practitioner, CDP and my certification as a Senior Gems Dementia trainer so I can work with and teach professionals in the healthcare field. Working with seniors is truly rewarding and I am blessed to have this opportunity.” Jane “Janie” Ternes Francis “I’m on my seventh year in Lake St. Louis, Mo. Love being close to my two sons, their wives and my three beautiful granddaughters. I am very active in my community, serving on several committees. I manage to travel with several of my neighborhood girlfriends every year. Love getting together with alums in the area. Recently saw Mary Reagan Bishop and Armeen Gottardi Williams . Hoping to get together with Marcella “Marci” Zurawski DeRoberts sometime soon.” Margaret “Kim” Harrison Kim has been COVID conscience and missed Reunion 2021, to be safe enough to go to her step grandson’s wedding. She was also able to see family at Thanksgiving. Kim has learned so much at the Arkansas Community Foundation and feels ready to move on. “That being said, it is time that I re-retire. My little group in Hot Springs Village needs someone with a different skill set than I possess. So, hopefully by this fall, I will be unemployed, but I do have other irons in the fire.” Judith “Judy” Ryan Tribble “I am spending my retirement with a few activities at our parish and babysitting for our three local grandchildren. We were fortunate to be able to tour Poland last October.
(with donations made in her memory) and dedicated the renovation to Cathy. They also framed and included a picture of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin in the chapel. A lovely tribute to incredible women. Claudia Coulter (coulterc@sbcglobal.net), Adjunct Professor at St. Louis University (Chicago), sends greetings and best wishes to all. Arlene Margevich Hogan (zippsmw@sbcglobal. net) and Mike are A-OK. Zipp has been working several days a week in her downtown Chicago, Ill., office throughout the pandemic. You know Zipp…she needs to be out and about! She keeps in touch with many Woodsies and is looking forward to Reunion #50. Although they missed their exotic travels, Cheryl Erazmus Freeman (soomantha@gmail.com) and Dave remained healthy and busy with family and grands throughout the pandemic in both Arizona and Wisconsin. She volunteers, substitute teaches, serves on committees and more. Congrats to Cheryl, now member of the SMWC’s Alumni Board of Directors! Regina McCullough Buckley (buckleyro@comcast. net) and her family are loving life in New England. They have stayed well throughout and hope that is true for everyone. Now working as a photographer, Regina is enjoying both the work and the hours. The pandemic made Debra “Debbie” Furr Plastrik (ptrikthor5752@gmail.com) and Pete grateful for their 2019 cross-country move to be closer to their sons and their families. They were able to get together both indoors and out, and recently enjoyed a getaway to beautiful Olympic National Park. Regina Dailey Engle (regina.engle@yahoo.com) says life is great in Charleston, S.C…” come visit!” She’s “indulging” in things she never had time for, including driving Uber and delivering Meals on Wheels, in addition to serving as Lector, Eucharistic Minister to the homebound and leader of a group for divorced Catholics. Debra Noe Johanningsmeier (djnoe@mac.com) and Jim are doing well and keeping busy. Two kids and grandchildren are local, so they were able to see them regularly. However, they weren’t able to see two of their sons and their families in California for almost two years. Thank goodness for Zoom! Anne Corcoran Reed (gypsy652@yahoo.com) and Paul have been enjoying their kids and grands in Louisville, Ky., and traveling as much as possible. Paul is retired, and Anne is semi-retired, still working one day a week as a Nursing Supervisor at Kindred Hospital. Congrats to Barbara “Barb” Reidy Maitland (raccoons333@gmail.com) who welcomed another granddaughter, Marleigh, last year. She loves spending time with her grands and was happy to keep in touch with SMWC classmates on Zoom. Barb hopes everyone is well and is looking forward to our next Reunion. Mary Clare Fox Dibb (filldibb@wi.rr.com) and Phil are enjoying the new pace of life after retirement, particularly after “spectacular” trips to Iceland and St. George, Utah. A busy volunteer, Mary Clare reports that all children are fine and three grands are flourishing. She can’t believe we’re 70 years “young.” Happy and healthy, Marie Stein Giancatarino (marielgcat@gmail.com) and Anthony are retired and glad to be able to see their three children and five grandchildren. Now that travel restrictions are loosening up, they are planning their next getaway. Deborah “Debbie” Coughlin Morrin (dmorrin@ kaseorioncfo.com) had a really positive COVID experience, making the most of every day. She moved to Evanston, Ill., is now working as a CFO 20 minutes from home, walks five miles a day, and is loving life.
She sends her best to everyone. Susan Minich Zolvinski (zolvinskism@gmail.com) and Frank took advantage of the pandemic, honing old skills like baking and gardening, hiking a nearby walking trail, and enjoying time with grandchildren. Frank is a Deacon of their parish, bringing interesting volunteer needs and opportunities. Susan wishes blessings and good health to all. Susan Mayer Faucett (susan.faucett@yahoo.com) and Bruce homeschooled their grandson through sixth grade (wow!). He’s now back in school and his little sister started Pre-K. Susan is taking Taekwondo (with her grandson) and the Faucetts hope to begin traveling soon. Carol Elledge Eads (caroljeads@gmail.com) is great and sends best wishes to all. She enjoys watching her eight-year-old grandnephew and has kept in virtual touch with SMWC classmates during the pandemic via Zoom. You can find Susan “Susie” Riedford Hughes (susierhughes@gmail.com) and Peter either enjoying the sports and activities of their eight granddaughters, boating or adventuring in their motorhome. During the pandemic, their vegetable garden did so well that Susie started canning. Well done! Although they are looking forward to resuming their travels post-COVID, it will be hard to tear Diana Vasquez Kesheimer (dkesheimer@gmail.com) and Peter away from new granddaughter, Madison. Congratulations! On a sad note, our sympathy to the Kesheimers, who lost Diana’s brother, Bob, earlier this year. Trudy Ayer Mickey (TMickeyHouse@gmail.com) and Stan wrote from Myrtle Beach, S.C., where they were helping with their newest and seventh grandchild, Fitz. Congratulations! All children and grandchildren doing well, and Trudy is still working in real estate. She wishes everyone a wonderful, fulfilling and happy year. Although COVID suspended the international travels of Caroline Myss (Carolinemyss@gmail.com), it did not slow her down. Instead, she taught online classes through her educational institute (CMED), wrote a new book and taught several workshops. She sends greetings to all classmates – and can’t believe how old we are. I’m happy to report that all Knapps are fine, and we’ve been blessed to have our kids and four grandsons close by. Tom and I are still working, volunteering and can’t wait to start traveling again. Kind of sad to lose the masks…liked being incognito… Plan on Reunion 2024! ’76 Nancy Von der Schmidt Primus 142 John Pott Dr Williamsburg, VA 23188 nmprimus@yahoo.com 518-796-5892 Linda Snyder-Lundstrom 602 Black Horse St SE Palm Bay, FL 32909 lindakaylundstrom@yahoo.com 321-698-2926 Victoria “Vicki” Weinert Yunker “The Yunker family is very grateful to be healthy, except for sister Kathy breaking both arms in a ladder fall. Loving life in Indiana where we’re close to family and friends. I visit with JoAnn “Joey” Tomer Weaver occasionally and even saw Donna Witte Murphy in Ohio (it’s not that far!)” Bernadette “Berny” Newland Heitzman “We are seeking a replacement for my Director of Music & Liturgy position so I can retire, but no luck so far.
