Deckard is a lecturer at Indiana University’s (IU) Kelley School of Business and a recipient of the Trustees’ Teaching and Mumford Excellence in Extraordinary Teaching Awards. He teaches business communication classes to undergraduate students and participants of the Kelley Executive Education and MSIS programs. Each spring he teaches a class on leadership lessons from the comic book industry at the Jellison Living Learning Center.Additionally, he also provides communication coaching for those struggling with connecting confidently to audiences. Beyond his work at IU, Trent is also a doctoral student at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and was selected to be a member of the institution’s inaugural cohort of Ph.D. in Global Leadership with a focus on organizational change and behavior. His interest in storytelling has been published in Journal of Excellence in Global Leadership. Trent received his bachelor’s degree in political science and criminology from Ball State University and his master’s degree in applied communication from IU, where he was recognized as 2023 Graduate Alumni of the Year. A former communication lecturer on the IUPUI campus, Trent also worked as a district director for a member of Congress, led an agency at the State of Indiana, served as chief of staff for a legislative caucus in the Indiana House of Representatives, and currently serves as an at-large member of the Monroe County Council where he is the president protempore. In his spare time, Trent enjoys time with family and the 21,000+ comic books he has collected since childhood and which he read to people online who were stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Trent is a member of Toastmasters, Rotary International, the Elks, and the Kiwanis Club of South-Central Indiana and is very active in his church.
Amy Demchak is committed to helping people strengthen their leadership skills to lead effective, creative and inspiring teams. During her 20+ career in higher education, she worked in the Offices of Admission, Orientation, Alumni Relations and Human Resources.
