Yildirim, C. N. (2021). How system users in small accounting firms evaluate major information system upgrade outcomes: A quantitative comparative study (Order No. 28861498). Available from ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global. (2609681181).
Abstract:
Information quality, system quality, and service quality are the primary differentiating components that shape the excellence and credibility of small accounting firms. The purpose of this quantitative comparative study, using a paired sample t -test, was to determine the mean differences in information quality, system quality, and service quality before and after implementation of a major technological upgrade for small accounting users. Participants were staff of small accounting firms in Bergen County, New Jersey that used an information system (IS). An online survey was the means to collect data from 105 small accounting firms that underwent analysis using a paired sample t -test. This study detailed how the results fit into the overall before and after implementation of a major technological upgrade, and explained how results factor into system theory, information system theory, and change management theory. The paired sample t -test was the test of the null hypothesis for each research question. The results indicated a statistically significant improvement after a technological upgrade with a strong effect size of 1.250 for information quality, a moderate effect size of .592 for system quality, and a strong effect size of 1.092 for service quality. Findings supported that participants perceived a statistically significant difference in information quality, system quality, and service quality after implementation of a major technological upgrade of small accounting firms’ IS in Bergen County, New Jersey. The findings of this study could be useful in supporting leaders of small accounting firms in making informed decisions, effectively managing resources, and building an effective and efficient IS.
