Learning Resource Center
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) provides resources services to encourage student success. Students will reach out for services like tutoring, writing help, time management, and more.
Academic Support Team (AST) is a partnership between faculty, staff, and individual students in need of academic support. Students with any grades below a C- will be assigned a mentor. The AST checks grades at four weeks, midterm, and at the end of the semester to keep track of who may need additional resources for success. Christy Gunderson, Director of Academic Services for Student Success, teaches LC 112 and LC 113 to help students acquire different skills, academically and personally, and to help gain confidence in their abilities to be successful. Students take these classes by placement only. College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) goes through the LRC. SMWC is an official testing sight for CLEP. Participation lets a student earn college credit by passing specific computer-based tests. There is a non-refundable fee of $109 per exam, which includes the $89 exam fee and $20 administrative fee. Student who are in/were in the military may take CLEP exams at no charge. The CLEP exam fee and the administrative fee are covered by the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES). Students with documented disabilities can register with Disability Support Services to get academic or housing accommodations as needed. Registration is on the Student Hub. The Early Alert system is managed by Christy Gunderson. Faculty and staff may submit an Early Alert through Woods Net. Christy sends an email informing those who have a relationship to the student about what action items need done to help the student.
Study tables for athletics are held in the LRC.
