AdvisingHandbook

Faculty-led programs allow students to travel with their classmates and a faculty member. This program is based on a three-credit hour course and take place during spring break or during the first two weeks in May. For more information about Study Abroad, please visit this link from the website: https://www.smwc.edu/offices-resources/offices/career-center/study-abroad/ All in all, The Career Center is exceptionally valuable for all students, even if they have declared a major. They are there to help students from the time they walk in the doors at SMWC until they walk out of the doors at SMWC and beyond. The Career Center can help students develop skills that are going to be necessary as students’ progress fur ther into their academic studies. If a student lets you know in an advising appointment that they are undeclared or they want to change their major, it is important to direct them to the Career Center. A suggested question to ask students is “what is your purpose in that career choice”? This question allows the student to really evaluate further how they can best serve in their specific major. It may even lead to more of a definite career focus in a broad major.
