First Friday – August 19, 2022
Alumni Relations will provide the new incoming freshman a gift. The Office of Advancement will also promote the Woods Fund to incoming freshman and provide information to Indiana residents about the SMWC specialty license plate. $25 of the SMWC license plate fee goes is a gift to the College.
First Monday – August 22, 2022
The Office of Advancement will have a scholarship table setup for pictures and to assist with any questions for the donor thank you letter. The location is (possibly) in the Sullivan Parlor located in Le Fer Hall (to be confirmed at a later date).
Acorn Ceremony – within the 1 st two weeks of school
Seniors organize this event as a symbol of welcoming incoming freshman to campus. The seniors will meet the freshman at the marble steps in Le Fer Hall and lead them to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. Seniors gift the freshman an acorn and then share stories about SWMC. The ceremony will be September 1 st , 2022 @ 9 p.m.
Homecoming – October 1, 2022
Homecoming is for all current students and alumni of SMWC and is planned by the Alumni office. Homecoming is typically one day from 10am-2pm. However, with adding sprint football, that could change. The football tailgate will begin at 2pm at West Vigo High School before the 4pm sprint football game kickoff. Other activities include a volleyball game, alumni softball game, and the alumni concert fearing the Madrigals to round out the day. Senior Dinner – Sarah Mahady is the senior class advisor and oversees the three class officers. Traditionally the first Sunday in December, last weekend of the first semester before students go home. Woods Giving Day – February 7, 2023 This is the College’s annual day of giving. Students, faculty, and staff will gather on that day to host its eighth annual #WoodsGivingDay. The day of giving contributes to the Woods Fund, the unrestricted fund that is e ssential to the College’s operating budget. The donations directly impact students – whether it is through scholarships or renovations of buildings around campus.
