C L A S S N O T E S Marie Ayer Roberts (markmarie@embarqmail.com) and her husband hope to retire from teaching in two years. Oldest son Ryan, 28, is a landscaper, married with three children. Matt, 26, works for a plumbing company being a data nerd and daughter Rachel, 24, lived in Thailand for three months learning muay Thai boxing. Beverly Groeber Williams (bevkwilliams15@ yahoo.com) changed careers and is enjoying her new job as a dialysis dietitian! They are having the time of our lives as grandparents! Charlotte, 3, is so much fun. Ben and Sarah relocated to Atlanta. Katie has been in Austin and enjoys the city. Can’t wait to see Constance “Connie” Land Beasor now that she is back home in Indiana. Trying to talk Marie Ayer Roberts into coming for a Fall visit. My husband Tim is retiring at the end of this school year. Granddaughter Alexis is driving, and grandson Kyle is in eighth grade. Our sons are living the family life. I am nursing my mom after recovering from a fall. In 2022 we vacationed in Oregon and enjoyed staying in a teepee, a military conex, the desert and more. Remember, we have a class Facebook page to share what’s happening in your lives. ’83 Anne Marie Keough 600 S Dearborn St Apt 1907 Chicago, IL 60605-1835 (312) 431-3119 ak4c2d@yahoo.com Jayna Bowling Wild said that though her life is pretty quiet, 2022 was pretty exciting, as her youngest daughter Sarah married the love of her life. 2023 marks her 33rd year of employment at Barr-Reeve. Jeanine Gordon reported that she taught theology for many years at Rosary High School and Aurora Central Catholic in Aurora, Illinois. Her husband, Eugene, passed away in 2020, but their marriage left her with five daughters, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She said she has had a blessed life. I agree. Jane Campbell Haber reports that her husband Matt is still working at the Pentagon. They travel as time allows. Her daughter Annie and son-in law Daniel moved closer to them, so they see their grandchildren, Layne, 3, and Ryan, 1, often. Her son Michael and his wife Maggie also live close by. Jane still volunteers with trauma patients in rehab. She said she loves giving back by telling her story of recovery. For Gazella Granger Summit , 2022 was a year of recognition. She was honored by the Vincennes Kiwanis Club with the prestigious N. Philip Shelton Humanitarian Award for her years of service within the community. She was honored by the Vincennes University Alumni Association with the Walter A. Davis Award for her 45 full-time and 15 part-time years of service to the University and national organizations. Lucianne “Luci” Englert McKean visited Mary Kenney Bosworth in the upper peninsula of Michigan in the summer of 2022 and said it was like no time had passed as they conversed as they did in Guerin Hall in 1983. She attended Reunion 2022 with Genevieve Costello ’84 , even though it wasn’t either of their years and loved it. They had a chance to reconnect with Sally King Backer ’82, Sarah Batt ’82 and Barbara Brugnaux ’70 in particular. She plans on attending Reunion 2023. Kathleen “Kathy” Hahn Keiner, husband Dave, and their grown children went on a family trip to the island of Kauai, Hawaii, around the turn of the year. Kathy hopes to retire in the next few years, especially as so many of us have been doing so! Julie Kelly Jones said she and Julie Pearman Blanford see each other several times yearly. Julie Kelly lives in Cape Coral, Florida and works for New American Funding in Atlanta, Georgia. Julie

One niece’s wedding was in Florida. I had all the flooring in my condo replaced and a gut rehab of the bathroom done. I’m doing a few more home projects in 2023, but they’re small potatoes compared to the others. Maybe travel. Maybe I’ll consolidate my blog columns into an e-book or three. Maybe I will see you at Reunion 2023! 2024 marks our 40th Reunion! A few of us will be reaching out to encourage all classmates to attend! Regina Hartman retired after 36 years from The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. She’s still establishing her retirement routine but looks forward to spending time with grandchildren, traveling and just doing more Blanford still lives in Savanna, Georgia and works for the federal government. They both have two grown children, a son and a daughter, but Julie Jones has two grandsons as well. They often talk, laugh and cry when they remember our late classmate JeanAnn Hauck Devins , and said it’s hard to believe she’s been gone over four years. Corrine Heafy Tischbein ’s son Alan and her daughter-in-law Cailyn had their first child, Corrine’s first grandchild in March 2023, and of course, Corrine and her husband are ecstatic. Both son Alan and daughter Kelly work for Traveler’s Insurance, him in finance, her in Information Technology. Her daughter Kelly is also in the Coast Guard Reserves, having finished boot camp in July 2022 and now stationed out of New London, Connecticut. Barbara Kain , after teaching elementary art for 37 years, retired in 2022. She and her partner Carol are still living in Greenfield, Indiana, but she is looking forward to continuing with her own artwork and traveling to visit friends and family across the country, with attending Reunion 2023 at the top of her to-do list. Mary Ann O’Malley Avery and her husband Alan continue to enjoy time with their family, especially their grandchildren Charlotte, Oscar and Henry. Mary Ann is still teaching employability to students with moderate-to-severe disabilities and advocating for gun control, suicide prevention and LGBTQ youth. She attended a retreat for Survivors of Suicide, hosted every fall by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and recommends it for anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide. Olivia Rhodes is staying busy with USAA Risk Management Governance and Compliance. In her spare time, she is busy with home and gardening projects, swimming, biking and rescuing fur-babies, her most recent a teething kitten (ouch). Anne Rosengarten spends time with her parents, who live in northern Minnesota, and her brother, who is their primary caretaker. She stays in touch with other family and friends, including classmate Christine “Chris” Morgan . She is doing well and planning for retirement. Sue Ellen Snyder Weiler is retired now but has been littered with ongoing health issues. Sue and Dave still mourn their daughter Katie, but they have been staying busy with travel. They visited New Orleans, the French Quarter, in October 2022 and recommend it. In 2023 they’ll visit Tokyo and Buenos Aires. I received a text message in January 2023 from the daughter-in-law of Dorothy Flory Snyder informing me that Dorothy passed away in October 2022 and that her late mother-in-law spoke of Saint Mary-of-the Woods with fondness. May she rest in peace.

Alphonse (Alphie) Lorenzano has melted our hearts! I continue to manage our business, Bright Ideas, and we recently moved our offices to a new location in Indianapolis. In the past year, Tara Burke McMurray and her husband Bob have spent time doing what they love: family parties, celebrations with friends, travel adventures and baking/cooking. Tara says, “Our children are happy and healthy. We are blessed.” Barbara “Barb” Blaber Jenig ’s family is well. Her older son lives in downtown Chicago and her younger son graduated from college in California. She volunteers at a food pantry as her schedule allows. She enjoyed meeting up with fellow Woodsies in the Chicago area this year and hopes to visit The Woods in 2023. Mary Pat Sepanik Romine ’s husband Larry retired in 2022, and they moved to beautiful northern Michigan. Steven moved with them, David is at the University of Texas at Dallas, and Billy was promoted to Captain, took command of a cavalry unit and lives Administrator for Baxter Healthcare. She enjoys time with her family in Chicago and Wisconsin. She is Nanna to seven grandchildren under the age of eight! Sadly, Marijo lost her sister Caryn and her dear aunt, Catherine “Cathy” Buster, SP ’59 , last year. Angela Birkhead-Flight had a difficult year, which included a car wreck with serious injuries, the death of her mother and the loss of her job. On the upside, “My daughter healed and is back at college, and I have time to compose music while I decide what is next. 2023 will be awesome!” At the age of 82, Judith Aldape says, “Aging is for the courageous, and I value my good health as well as my hard-earned education.” She is working on the outline for a memoir and is taking an online class in things she loves. The family is doing well. Gregg is still making the commute to Dayton. Alana and Michael are still in Portland. Granddaughter Zuzu is in kindergarten. Grandson Desmond will be one in February. Lastly, Gabrielle is in her sophomore year at Xavier. Jane Kohanyi Villaroman still teaches chemistry and physics. She hopes to retire in a few years. Oldest daughter Hannah just bought a house a mile away. Younger daughter, Mariah, will spend the next school year in Spain as a teaching assistant! Son, Noah, still lives and works from home. Jane sees Mary Ellen Boyle ’83 and Christine “Chris” Miller Retseck ’79 weekly at mass and occasionally sees Janet Jayo ’83 . Jane looks forward to Reunion 2024! Elizabeth “Beth” Dietzen Purcell is continuing to love retirement. She and Phil get away for trips to Charleston, Savannah, Key West and Amelia Island. The family is all happy and healthy and very thankful. Elizabeth Nardi Jeffries still works. A little Speaking but mostly executive coaching with physician leaders in academic medicine, which is such a joy. She spends the winters in Naples, Florida, but Louisville remains her permanent home. Elizabeth’s husband, Stephen Tweed, is still her business partner, which has worked out well for over 30 years. Their travel goal is all seven continents – only two more to go! She and Stephen serve with several ministries. Our daughter was married in July 2022 in Florida. in Colorado with his new bride, Maddie. Marijo Police is a Senior Internal Audit
