SPRING-OA 2022

C L A S S N O T E S Theresa “Terry” Jones Swayze has been enjoying retirement since November 2019. She has two grandsons who live locally and who participate in multiple sports. She enjoys watching their games as well. Her son, who is thirty-three, got married in mid- February. Terry was so glad that she got to be there. She has a small group of close friends that enjoy going to dinner theater plays and she hopes to get back to taking bus tours soon. Carol Conway has kept busy during the Pandemic. She tells us she was blessed by Zoom to spend lots of time with Gene Hogan, Lynn George Crotty and Mary O’Malley Kratofil . Carol says, as you know Gene went to the Lord in 2020 but not before Carol spent great moments with her via phone and Zoom. In June of 2021, she flew to Kansas City to surprise Mary and Greg on their 50th wedding anniversary where she also reconnected with Linda Fowler Voyles . Such laughter! (And such pictures!) Mary and Carol Zoomed with Lynn the next day; that was the last time the three roommates were together. The day after Thanksgiving Lynn fell into the tenderness of God, after so much suffering! A couple of months before she died, she told me she was afraid she wasn’t ever leaving the hospital and cried for the first time in all the years she was ill. The good news is that she no longer felt that way toward the end. Death did not scare her and, while she regretted leaving her beloved Don, five sons, daughters in law, and grands, she was ready. There is comfort in that. The funeral was in Detroit, Mich., and there was a Memorial Mass in Chicago, Ill. Mary Getty, Valerie Woods ’72 and Mary Jane Welter ’72 attended. Lynnie brought them together to remind them that time is precious; those four got together for a great day of remembering and promised to gather once a month. Carol and Lynnie met in fourth grade and roomed together for four years at The Woods, with never so much as one harsh word. Carol says as she types this, she still can’t believe Lynnie’s gone. Anyone reading this knows that there is no friendship like a Woods friendship. Thanks be to God! (Thank you, Carol, from all of us.) Elizabeth “Betsy” Carey Blameuser sent a card with her 2021 news. Not only a 50th Reunion year but a 50th anniversary year as well. They planned a 50th-anniversary party in California with family. Betsy and Larry spent time traveling in California. The next big affair was Larry’s 50th Reunion from the Air Force Academy in Colorado. The Reunion was followed by more family visits in the northern Midwest. They are two very busy people. Typical of those two since forever. The Larkin family is settling into 2022 nicely. Reunion was the highlight of 2021. I will be there at our 55th. We’ll have more fun flying under the radar. I went to Alaska for the first time and spent time in Sitka in a snowstorm. I hope to go back in the summer. Big plans for this year…Colorado and North Carolina. Let’s hope. Blessings to all of you for a safe, healthy, happy year. ’73 Barbara Cooney Anderson 13 Naramore Dr Batavia, NY 14020-2725 585-409-7458 canders3@rochester.rr.com Greetings from the Class of 1973!
