In JMP statistical software, you can graph gender and question one responses with a level (Freshman through Senior) overlay. The image below shows some interesting comparisons; however, the color distinction in the charts makes it somewhat difficult to interpret.

Using pivot charts in Excel allows us to filter between each level, and look at the counts of the responses.

Remember, visualizations are a good way for you to understand your data. Even before you use statistical software, you can do a lot of analysis with packages like Excel. In the example shown below, Excel pivot charts show each level, Freshmen through Senior. As you can see, males seem more stressed than females on every level.

Visualizations are a good way to determine if the has a normal distribution. This is discussed thoroughly in future chapters. But for now, let’s try to look at visualization we can produce with the software we have on hand.
