C L A S S N O T E S with family and friends. They will be touring Scotland and Ireland in June. Barbara “Barb” Graham has retired after 42 years of teaching. She watches her granddaughter Addison Grace, 5, who is the light of her life! She also works in her Township’s Trustee’s office, which helps those in need and is active in her church’s St. Vincent de Paul Society, which does similar work. Helen Hegarty McGee and Bob will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this year. They’re transitioning their store to the next generation of McGees. For the last 12 years, she has enjoyed Camp Gran-a-way to be with her grandkids and help their parents. She’s grateful to the Sisters at SMWC for encouraging everyone to take education classes; they came in handy! Helen hopes to attend the dinner at Reunion and be there for class pictures. JoAnn Joganic is looking forward to the 50th Reunion. She still resides in St. Petersburg, Florida and keeps her hand in the financial world through volunteer income tax preparation for active duty and veterans at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. She and spouse Barry Flynn plan to pick up on travels in 2023 with two cruises on the horizon and a train trip through Mexico’s Copper Canyon in November. Patricia “Patty” Kaperak Talen lives in Plymouth, Wisconsin, with husband Tim and just celebrated 40 years of marriage. She freelances and teaches Drama/Directing in the community, school residences, and with their Theatre Company YTC. They have seven grandchildren; the newest, Dottie Lynn, was born on January 10, 2023. They have five girls and two boys. Anne Kelley Hanada says life is good, and after 70 years has four grandchildren to enjoy. She is still madly in love with Eric and had a practice mini-50th with Cindy, Collette, Mary and Therese Lysaught ’72 last April in St. Louis. SVDP still keeps her busy. Angela “Angie” Lorenzano Kiplinger and husband Vic still live in their home in Livingston over the past 30 years. He continues to go to his law office in downtown Indianapolis while she keeps busy with volunteer work with St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild and the 24 Group-recovery support and education for adolescents. They continue to travel and are planning a cruise to Iceland in September. She hopes to see everyone at Reunion. Christine “Chris” McAlister Mallers and Pete had a heartbreak this year as their daughter, Lindsay Dalton, 39, died from colon cancer last spring. At her celebration of life in Indianapolis, they were thankful to see Janet Birk Howe and Helen Hegarty McGee . She also heard from Jeanette “Jeanne” Hagelskamp, SP and Margaret “Peggy” Grimmer Rolf . They have moved to a new home in Fort Wayne to spend as much time as possible with Lindsay’s children. Jane Melevin has been married for 13 years. She volunteers one night a week for a Resale shop that supports Domestic Violence. She has registered for Reunion. Mary Echsner Moore enjoys living six months in Indiana and six months in Florida. She plays pickleball and rides her bike daily. She hopes we have a good turnout for the 50th Reunion and looks forward to seeing everyone there! Mary O’Neill Schuler and Bob traveled almost half the year in 2022. It’s quieter this year, but they still hope to see their kids for a week or so in Europe and Maryland. Golf tournaments keep them both busy. Later this year, she will have back surgery but hopes to make it to Reunion. Cynthia “Cindy” Philbin says all is well in the Windy City. She’s retired but still goes to school daily to test and volunteer. Stef has put in to retire in five years. Javier is a junior at Loyola U and is majoring in Video Gaming Landscape Artist. Kudos to Lisa Stallings, SP , who has taken on two new ministries. She is the director of liturgy for the Sisters of Providence community and also works every morning at the Connecting Link in West Terre Haute, a Sisters of Providence outreach ministry providing services that address a variety of pressing community needs. Nancy Piasecki Hanlon (nannah@comcast.net) and Tom are grandparents of 11 and try to spend as much time as possible with them and their parents --- four are in Seattle, four in Northern Virginia and three in Raleigh. She is also very involved in the Christ Child Society. Mary Clare Fox Dibb (filldibb@wi.rr.com) is happy to report that Phil is fine after surgery to repair an aneurysm. In fact, he is doing so well that the Dibbs visited the Holy Land in September. Mary Clare knows they are blessed and credits faith, family, friends, and prayers. Reporting in from Charleston, South Carolina, Regina Dailey Engle (regina.engle@yahoo.com) was awaiting the arrival of her eighth grandchild and keeping busy with her company (Jeannie’s Jams), driving Uber, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and taking Communion to shut-ins. She sends best wishes to all. Patricia “Pat” Lyman Darnell (pittyd41@gmail. com) had a big year in 2022. She attended Deborah Debbie” Patton Gildea ’s 70th and celebrated her own birthday on Elle’s Purdue graduation day. Libby is working and living the good life, and Emily was married in December 2022. Pat welcomed 2023 in Florida with old friends. In Evanston, Illinois, Deborah “Debbie” Coughlin Morrin (dmorrin@kaseorioncfo.com) loves her job as CFO of Charger Water Treatment. She is currently working remotely due to a fractured foot (ouch!). Debbie is planning trips to Rome and Greece this summer. Debra “Debbie” Furr Plastrik (ptrikthor5752@ gmail.com) and Pete love living in the Pacific Northwest, close to their sons and their families, particularly their nine-year-old granddaughter. Debbie’s successful hip surgery has enabled her to resume hiking, and she is looking forward to gardening this spring. Gilda Gomez Collins (gdc1992@yahoo.com) wishes everyone a great year from sunny Orlando, Florida. Her husband Phil retired recently, and the couple enjoys their “old age” to the fullest. They “winter” in Orlando and “summer” in New York and recently welcomed their fifth grandson. Congrats! From Paris, Illinois, Carol Elledge Eads (caroljeads@gmail.com) wrote that she loves watching her nine-year-old great-nephew after school. She sends greetings to all and is looking forward to the Reunion. Last spring, Carol joined Mary Clare Fox Dibb, Lynn Moore Delehanty and Cheryl Erazmus Freeman in Savannah to celebrate their 70th birthdays. Congrats to Trudy Ayer Mickey (tmickeyhouse@ gmail.com) and Stan on their 50th anniversary and on the birth of another grandson (for a total of eight “grands”)! All are doing well. Foot surgery has Trudy sidelined from real estate, but she is looking forward to granddaughter Emma Saunders’ upcoming Ring Ceremony. In Louisville, Kentucky, Anne Corcoran Reed (gypsy652@yahoo.com) and Paul are spending a lot of time with family and friends and traveling when they can. Anne retired as a Nursing Supervisor in July of 2022 and reports that she could not be happier. So good to hear from Marion Stamm Breza in Mercerville, New Jersey. Her three grown “children” are doing well, and Marion is happy they have remained in the area. She is enjoying her retirement

at Northern in Chicago majoring in Biology with an emphasis in Zoology. She wants to work in a zoo or nature center. Ann Prox says retired life is good! In November, she, Patricia “Pat” Fleming Joy and Catherine “Cathy” Purcell Card had a little reunion. They spent the day at The Woods and took a tour of the campus and Le Fer. They came up with a plan for our 50th Reunion gift- to clean up the landscaping at Le Fer and encourages everyone to give to The Woods for our gift. Kathleen “Kathy” Usher Rejent says retired life is great in Atlanta. After teaching for 30-plus years she is happily playing bridge, reading, traveling and loving on her two grandsons. Last year she accompanied her husband on his 50th class reunion from Norte Dame and is looking forward to our 50th Reunion. Judith “Judy” Rodino Harris had a busy travel year in 2022, going to Peru, Galapagos Islands, Baltic Sea Cruise, Iceland and South Africa. In 2023 they plan to go to India, Spain, Portugal and Ireland. She is also looking forward to Reunion. Susan “Sue” Tarrant says it’s been an eventful year on her journey back home to Indiana. After her mother’s passing in early 2020, she decided to move back to Indiana to be closer to her brother, moving from Brownsville, Texas, to Christmas Village in Santa Claus, Indiana. She is looking forward to Reunion. Colleen Wade Grady and Raleigh will celebrate their 50th in August. She plans to be at The Woods in June. They traveled some last year, ending the year on a Baja Peninsula cruise. Daughter Dionne and family still live north of San Diego, and son Adam and wife live in Chandler. Sadly, Joyce McDade White ’s husband, Tom, passed away on May 31, 2022, of a massive heart attack. They were married for almost 50 years. She is still grieving and misses him every day. Mary Pat Williams Sharpe retired from school administration eight years ago. She is an adjunct professor at Marian University, currently working with candidates who are pursuing their administrator’s license in Education. She will have to miss our 50th Reunion as she will be traveling to France and Ireland at that time. Barbara Cooney Anderson and Clair continue to spend winters in Naples, getting away from all the snow in Buffalo. They welcomed a new granddaughter in July and now have two girls and a boy. They enjoy spending time with them. “It sounds like a lot of you plan to attend Reunion Weekend in June, hope to see you there! Meanwhile, stay healthy and happy! She also serves on the SMWC Board of Trustees. Sister Dawn enjoys seeing classmates when they visit and promises her classmates a private tour (you will have to come to Reunion to find out where). Congratulations are also in order for Jeneen “Jenny” Howard, SP (jhoward@spsmw.org), now the congregational leader for the Our Lady of Victory Noll Sisters of Huntington, Indiana, which recently named the Sisters of Providence as the commissary congregation for the Victory Nolls.
