physical therapy gets her ready to care for her beloved dogs. Kim still plays bridge weekly with her 90-year old card partner. She volunteers at the Humane Society while on their board of the governance committee and organizing policies. Kim spent Thanksgiving with the family making it “really special this year.” Jane Stewart Wilcox “2022 was another great year.” She spent time with Teesie Heineman-Eck ’75 , Joann Van Horn-Weiland ’75 , her husband Dan, Margaret Vidal Crellin ’75 and her husband Bill and Mary Fran “Fern” Riordan Edwards ’77 during their Florida visit. Jane went to her 50th high school reunion in New Jersey. “It was so much fun, although we spent a lot of time playing ‘who’s that’!” January 2023, started with a cruise and plans for Italy! “My boyfriend John and I continue to enjoy our lives. Life is good!” Mary Ellen O’Keefe writes, “I’m still producing events in New York City about democracy, national security and criminal justice reform for the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law. No shortage of topics to cover! Finally, going back to in-person events after a couple of years of building a national virtual audience, so that’s been interesting. They are online on YouTube channel or brennancenter.org” Judith “Judy” Ryan Tribble “Not much newsworthy here. I continue to volunteer two days a week at our parish food pantry. Also attends weekly Legion of Mary meetings. I babysit for our three local grandchildren on a regular basis. All four children, spouses, and children were home for Christmas. Lots of joyful noise!” Marcella “Marci” Zurawski DeRoberts likes working in a small family business in Louisville, Kentucky. She plays tennis, joined a Euchre group and goes to dinner with friends. She visits daughter, Lisa and her husband, Mark, in Cincinnati when she can. Every three months, Marci gets to be “Gia” to son Marc and Bahar’s Jasmine and Mya in Greensboro, North Carolina. Bernadette “Berny” Newland Heitzman is retired! “Christmas this year was lovely.” She only had one Mass to attend instead of 4-5! At this moment, she is in Vail, Colorado, helping daughter Lauren and hubby Al with grandbaby #8, Callahan River Carpenter! “Dave still plans to work a couple more years, but retirement for me has been such a blessing to allow trips like this and to visit sons in Texas and Florida.” Donna Witte Murphy and Dan enjoyed a fabulous Alaskan cruise in June. “I highly recommend it!” Boat excursion, seeing bald eagles, deer swimming and more. In January, it was a trip to the Caribbean with another to Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks! When at home, they spend time with their seven grandchildren! Sadly, Donna lost her sister-in-law to cancer. But they visited with many relatives before her passing and with the funeral. Victoria “Vicki” Weinert Yunker best news of 2022 was the July 18th birth of grandson Lincoln Hayes. “He is a handsome fellow, and brothers Luke and Bennett are thrilled with him, too.” Please keep Nancy Von der Schmidt Primus in your prayers as she manages a health issue. We need her better to help with notes! Linda Snyder-Lundstrom and Matt had a wonderful trip visiting five of their exchange daughters and witnessing one’s marriage. They met seven of eleven European grandchildren! All of which were adorable and charming, just like their three at home. She made also two quick trips to Indiana. “Thanks to all that wrote. You are appreciated. And thanks, too, for all the well wishes for Matt (cartoid artery surgery Dec 2022) and our son (heart attack Nov 2022). Both are doing very well!” C L A S S N O T E S

It is with a heavy heart to share that our dear classmate Cynthia “Cindy” Hux Martin died suddenly on December 30, 2022. Cindy was a class leader and a generous and dedicated Woods alum. She was also a respected Terre Haute citizen and business leader. Most of all, she was a dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Please keep Cindy and all of her loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Stay tuned for details. Catherine “Cathy” Nolan Balay is back home again in Indiana. She and Mark moved back to the Fort Wayne area after years in Minnesota. She’s excited that Kim Alexander will move into her neighborhood in 2023. Cathy, Kim, Susan Finley, Anne Walsh Walton, Nancy Hunter Miller ’79 , and Ellen Murphy ’79 all enjoyed a mini-reunion in Nashville, Indiana, in August 2022. They hiked, shopped, wined, and dined—and gabbed. Michelle Tesar Barrentine ’16G primarily works for Beginning Experience International Ministry, serving those who have lost a spouse/partner. While she loves this important work, she looks forward to 2024, when she will step down and travel again. She eagerly anticipates Reunion in June. Michelle says, “Stay warm and healthy, everyone!” Mary Catherine “MC” Doyle enjoys an array of retirement hobbies, including the ukulele and family travels to Northern California and Colorado. Daughter Sara—who “is amazing with children”—completed a Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis and works with teachers and students. MC is grateful for our good health and wishes us well. Anne Franklin and Mike stay busy with kids and grandkids. They took the whole family on vacations to Disney World and Gulf Shores. She and Mike also traveled to Portugal, Spain, Morocco, and Greece. She’s become very involved in local politics. Between the grandkids, travel, and campaigns, she is booked! Judith “Judy” Swank Harlan lost her beloved husband, Charles, on Thanksgiving 2022 following a heart transplant in August. Keep Judy in your prayers as she processes and adjusts to widowhood. Her daughter and son-in-law, son, and grandkids “have been a Godsend.” She continues to work following a bereavement leave. Geraldine Bush MacLeod retires from Eastern Carolina University this spring. She hopes to celebrate with our Reunion and an Alaskan adventure with husband, Ken. Son Greg returned home to Greenville and thrives at a medical supply warehouse job. Son Tommy moved from Montana to Utah and continues to teach skiing. Shirley Guiler Millsap and husband Mik, have moved back to Delavan, Wisconsin. from Tennessee. She was able to visit with The Records during Susan Record ’s neurosurgery hospitalization as they made the drive north. After all, if it wasn’t for her roomie Susan, she’d never have met Mike! Rev. Cathy Behm Minor always prays for us! She enjoys hikes with husband Kerry and time with her children and grandchildren as well as her Behm siblings. She’ll be at Reunion! Son Alex and his wife, Kathleen, adopted a boy, Donovan, 2 ½, and are in process of adopting a second son, Elliot, 1. Donna and Ken love going to Ohio to babysit. They enjoyed Seattle in September, followed by an Alaskan cruise. Susan Record battles health concerns but forges forward with the constant love and support of partner Paul Conforti and The Records. Sheila Record ’79 and Sally Record Eck ’76 are a huge help. Last summer, Susan assisted her mom and Sheila with a move and vacationed in California with Paul’s family. Linda Makowski Squadroni suffered the loss of her soulmate and dear significant other, Greg Toth, in May 2022. Please keep Linda and Greg’s families in your prayers for comfort and peace. Mary Grace Sylvester doubts she’ll make it from Tokyo to our Reunion but enjoyed seeing Sue Finley and Anne Walsh Walton for their annual Sunday afternoon visit in Sylvania, Ohio, last fall. Loretta Ryan Tuegel, MD , and husband, Eric, retired in June 2022 and enjoyed a 10-day Ohio River cruise in September 2022. They welcomed their third granddaughter, Amalie Ruth, in July 2022. Loretta looks forward to the Reunion! Anne Walsh Walton ’s father-in-law, Joseph Walton, died in June 2022. He was the family patriarch and is dearly missed by many. We send our condolences to Anne, her husband, Bob, and all of The Waltons. Mary Frances Cebuhar West celebrated Thanksgiving with her brothers Phillip and John in Oklahoma and Arkansas. She spent Christmas in Chicago with her son, Matthew, and his girlfriend, Kaska, The Southwest Airline Bomb Cyclone nightmare impels her to stay home for future holidays. She’ll see everyone in June at Reunion! Philomena “Peggy” Bowling Zitzer ’s dear mother, Veronica, died in May 2022. The five Bowling daughters miss their mom but take comfort knowing she and their dad are together again. Little known fact: Veronica went to grade school with Barbara Doherty, SP ’53 at Ascension in Oak Park, Illinois! Kevin and I had the great honor of attending Philomena “Peggy” Bowling Zitzer and Dave’s daughter Ellen’s beautiful wedding to Chad Bosman at Cantigny Park in October. We welcomed granddaughter, Abigail Rosalie, in 2022. Another redhead! I hope to see you at our 45th Reunion in June! Leisa Utsler Anslinger (leisaanslinger@me.com) and Steve have relocated to Lebanon, Tennessee where they are closest to four generations of family! Steve is officially fully retired. Leisa is mostly retired but continues to coach and consult with (arch) dioceses in stewardship and pastoral planning; she will continue to write from the comfort of her new home.
