Kathryn “Kathy” Sharp writes that due to excellent medical professionals, her husband survived a major health issue and is recovering well. She is blessed to have no health issues. Kathy has two grandchildren at Indiana University and one at the University of Kansas. Rosemary Krider Schmid is adjusting to PPSS (“post” pandemic stress syndrome) by moving from ESL classrooms to online private tutoring/consulting with professionals whose first language is not English. In February, she presented “Fitting in While Studying and Living in the USA” at Cambodia TESOL. She’s boosted and ready to travel. Theresa Rosner White is happily living full time in Florida in a CCRC facility which is now open for activities such as shopping, dining out and being “masked free”. She hopes to have our Chicago, Ill., classmates get together soon. Kathleen “Kathy” Ennis Patinkin says the best part of 2021 was selling their home and moving into a high-rise in downtown Oak Park, Ill. Anne Lenhard Benington and George avoided COVID, spending winter months in Florida. volunteers at the Science Center on a marketing campaign. Facebook friends love her photos. Stella “Sally” Cratty Byant and daughter Paula enjoyed fall colors on a Boston to Canada trip. After Stella’s car developed problems, she went online and bought a car sight unseen and is delighted with her new transportation! She loves being a part of the Zoom quartet of herself, Marianne, Gloria and Marcia. Marianne Lautner Jones devours books and is back to crocheting prayer shawls. Marianne enjoyed a trip to Philadelphia, Pa., with her daughter and a trip to Rhode Island for a family Confirmation. She yearns for the return of international travel! Marianne has a biweekly zoom session with Gloria, Marcia, and Sally. Gloria Wegman Coen , another Zoomer, lectors at church and has three weekly line dance classes. Travels involved visits to Kansas City and Branson, Mo., some for family occasions, some just for fun. They lost their electricity when Texas experienced the ice storm and felt lucky, although they were freezing, their pipes did not. Marcia Zeeck Spranger, another Zoomer, and Bob don’t let health issues keep them from their twice- daily walks in the park that their fur babies insist on. Their thirty-eight-year-old house needed attention and Marcia is the chief supervisor and loving the results of her idea to install solar panels. It is with sadness that I report the death of our classmates: Margaret “PK” Kelly Deputy (June 2021) Judith “Judi” Loman Albert (October 2021) How beautiful to note that the obituaries of both mentioned their love for and fond memories of our beloved college. Each treasured this place such that they both have their final resting place at The Woods in the Sisters of Providence Community Cemetery Columbarium. Denise serves on the Board of the Coachella Valley Boys & Girls Club helping thousands of young people. Denise now sports a monogrammed walker in hopes of avoiding future falls. In the meantime, she still leads book discussions at a local bookstore and leads a Scripture study group at their parish. Noreen Gorman Perrone has less work to do since Covid has slowed down her husband’s consulting/mentoring business. Noreen follows her granddaughter’s athletic success as Mia travels for tournaments. A bit of a spin on the ice did not stop Noreen from keeping a pre-op cataract appointment. Ruthann Hofer McGarry and Matt enjoy their winter in Florida although hauling her sewing machine has cut back on her sewing creativity. However, Ruthann has moved on to oil painting, joining a painting group in Florida. Her landscape and flower canvases cut time from Sudoku and walking on the beach. Sister Connie Kramer visited family in the Boston area and spent Christmas at The Woods. Since coronavirus has limited options, she continues to do retreat work in person and spiritual direction and grief counseling online and/or Zoom sessions and is grateful for technology making possible the ministries dear to her heart.
